Afternoon tea

Were you guys aware that Holt Renfrew has it's own cafe? Located in the corner of Holt Renfrew, Holt Cafe is a tiny cafe that overlooks the Manulife Place. They don't have an exclusive menu but their drink menu captured my attention!
Toasted Almond Brittle: yup, that's PINK tea! How adorable?! It tastes great with honey!
(forgot what this was called but it was under appetizers also please excuse the quality)
Lobster & Potato Lasagne: definitely recommend this, it is the perfect comfort food!
Squash Risotto Cakes, my friend and I both agreed that we've tried better risotto, so we wouldn't recommend this dish.

Comfort food

Do you guys remember my very first blog post? If not, I'll remind you guys... My first blgo post was dedicated to Dauphine's because I simply adore this cafe so much! There is no better remedy to a bad day, than food. With that being said, I made a trip down to Dauphine's for an iced Foggy Queen and a late brunch!

How do you like your eggs?

With exams and everything in my life happening all at once, I didn't get the chance to blog but I'm back! Another fellow foodie and I decided to grab brunch today, with the beautiful weather lately, of course it's patio season. We settled for Artisan Resto-Cafe on Whyte Avenue.
P.S: Don't mind the quality of the photos, they were taken on my iPhone.
I was craving eggs benedict so I ordered the Bretรดn which cost $11.29
Still on the hunt for THEE BEST eggs benedict in the city...
My friend ordered something off of the Classic Eggs menu (forgot what it was called) with scrambled eggs but she said the bacon had too much fat on it.
Of course, no foodie brunch would be complete without dessert... so we ordered the mixed berry Belgian Waffles ($10.49) to share. The waffles were fluffy and the sourness of the berries were a great balance! I would say among all the places in Edmonton, Artisan Resto-Cafe is my favorite go-to place for Belgian waffles!

Good Friday Brunch

To start off our long weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Barb And Ernie's (Old Country Inn) for brunch. Barb and Ernie's has been around since 1975 and they're famous for their eggs benedict, so we both settled for that! The restaurant itself definitely has a vintage feel; the portion was more than enough, I couldn't finish my plate (but I wish I did...). The only downside, is we had to wait a while for our food to come out.
Eggs Benedict with Turkey Bacon $14.95
Eggs Benedict with Combo Meat $15.95

Favorite brunch location

After visiting the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market, one Saturday morning, my boyfriend and I decided to grab brunch around the area and settled for something healthy (yet very filling). There's a little section on Whyte Avenue called, "Roots on Whyte." It's basically the "organic" section of Whyte Ave. on the main floor there is an organic market, a cafe (called DaCapo Caffe), and a restaurant called Under the High Wheel. This is by far my favourite brunch place because the ingredients are organic and the restaurant itself is quite homely. On top of that, it's always busy so you know it's good!
I ordered the traditional breakfast but replaced the two fried eggs with egg whites (because I'm not a fan of egg yolks) I had to pay an additional amount but it was worth it! The egg whites were fluffy, the toast had a crunchy/crispy exterior and a soft interior, and unlike potatoes from most breakfast places, these were not greasy and had a light, herb-like-taste to them!
My boyfriend ordered the bangers n' mash, I did a taste test myself and really enjoyed the sauce they used!
