Comfort food

Do you guys remember my very first blog post? If not, I'll remind you guys... My first blgo post was dedicated to Dauphine's because I simply adore this cafe so much! There is no better remedy to a bad day, than food. With that being said, I made a trip down to Dauphine's for an iced Foggy Queen and a late brunch!

Fondueee

As the saying goes, "there's always room for dessert," but when there isn't, head to Capstones Tea & Fondue (on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver) for a light treat! Who doesn't love fondue? My friend and I ordered the individual chocolate fondue with add-ons which was a total around $20 per person (which is a pretty reasonable price when compared to The Melting Pot.) The servers were quite friendly and we received excellent service, I would definitely come again.
The banana muffin was so yummy!

Late lunch adventure

I woke up this morning with no intentions of stepping outside in this weather but I had a sudden craving for tacos from Tres Carnales so I convinced my girls to skip the gym to grab lunch with me! Of course, no hot summers day meal is complete without multiple drinks and desserts, so we went to Craft Beer Market afterwards to enjoy their rooftop patio and the beautiful weather!
Probably the worst food photo I've ever taken but I was too excited/hungry to get a good shot!
I forgot what this drink was called but it was under the cocktail section of the menu. I couldn't taste the alcohol in this, it's a perfect drink for someone who doesn't like the bitter taste of alcohol!
Cider: again, the taste of alcohol was almost nonexistent!
Guinness Float: my friend said it tasted like Vietnamese Iced Coffee towards the end.
Dessert in a Jar: I really enjoyed this! The picture doesn't do a good job of showing it's size but this was shared between three people and we couldn't finish it!
Rooftop patio view!

Before it Rained

Before it rained on Thursday evening, I got the chance to have dinner on the patio at Blue Plate Diner, located in the heart of the Warehouse District in downtown Edmonton. Might I add, it's always difficult for me to settle on a place to eat whenever I'm in this area, EVERY cafe and restaurant there is great. I chose this restaurant because my friend is a vegetarian and most restaurants do not have a wide variety of vegetarian options but Blue Plate Diner has quite a few.
Usually Sangria is made with red wine but they had an option of red or white so I decided to try white wine sangria and I like it better than with red!
Teriyaki stirfry with tofu
Mac-N-Cheese with sausage

Somewhere around the corner

On a beautiful Wednesday evening, I met up with my friends after work for dinner and drinks. We went to Cask & Barrel around the corner of 7-eleven on Jasper Ave. It's a cozy little place and the menu is mostly comfort foods! After dinner, we went to Windermere VIP Cinemas for a second dinner + more drinks!

Taste of Edmonton

I took advantage of today's gloomy weather and went down to Taste of Edmonton! Unfortunately, it was really crowded so I didn't get to try as many foods as I wanted (but the foods that I did get to try were really good!)... so I did the next best thing and went to Teapsy afterwards!
Apple Crumble
Maple Bacon Mac n Cheese
Eva's Waffles, I cannot stress how PERFECT this waffle was, I get Eva's Waffles every time I see their food truck!
Matcha
Takoyaki!
Everyone needs to try this taro slush!!!
Egg Waffles!

Another hot evening...

With the weather being so insanely hot these days, I'd rather be anywhere but outdoors... But I made an exception this evening and grabbed dinner at Chop in their downtown location.
I noticed that I really enjoy martinis... so here is the Raspberry Lemon Squeeze
The steak bites were a bit dry, but the sauces that came with them were good.
My friend couldn't finish this and complained that the serving size was too much... Chop Salad
I quite enjoyed this Roasted Mushroom Ravioli

Downtown foodventure!

I got up bright and early this Saturday morning and visited the City Market on 104 st, The Street Performers Festival, and The Hawkers Market. Yes! I went to all three events in one day! Lets just say I have the tan to prove this... But on a bright note, I finally got to satisfy my mini donut cravings + got to try tons of other neat food trucks! Of course, that wasn't enough... I needed to escape the scorching sun and noticed The Burg, so my friend and I decided to share a few appetizers because we were already full from the food trucks.
Watermelon and mint lemonade from Dauphine Bakery and Bistro
Sugar cookies from Confetti Sweets x London fog cookies from Blooms Cookie Co.
These fish tacos weren't that great (especially compared to Tres Carnales!)
The poutine was too salty
My friend and I both agreed that this was the best tasting dish, mac n cheese balls!

Favorite restaurant!

I don't have ONE particular favorite food, but I do have a favorite restaurant and that would be, Cibo Bistro, sandwiched between several other stores and restaurants on 104th Ave. An ntre from this little gem could easily cost as much as an entire meal from another Italian restaurant, but it is definitely worth it. The portion size isn't grand but the flavor is everything! If I lived closer to downtown Edmonton, I'm positive that I'd have dinner there everyday!
Polenta Fritta, not sure how to describe these but they were similar to giant fries except instead of being potatoes, they were filled with cheese? They were quite filling but very good!
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of this dish but it was apart of their dinner menu and I can promise you that it tasted better than how it looks (ok lets be real now, it looks delicious!)
This may look like a simple ravioli dish, but it was the best ravioli I've ever had in my life! (price ranges around $35)

Fish Tacos!

My favorite tacos (one of my favorite foods) fish tacos from Tres Carnales! I probably go there once a week...

Canada day eats!

This year was the first year (since a very looooooooooong time) that I actually celebrated Canada Day. Now, when I think of food for Canada Day or any other "outdoor-related-holiday/event" I think of street food, which I guess I could have gotten... but instead, my sister and company decided to head down to La Ronde, the revolving rooftop restaurant, found in the heart of downtown Edmonton. I've always heard about this restaurant but never had any occasion that I felt was "special" enough to pay this restaurant a visit so it was a very exciting foodie experience! The server we had was quite friendly, he offered us complimentary ice-cream (and complimentary drinks? I don't remember, we ordered too many...). Unfortunately, there was a building blocking our view so when the fireworks came on, we only got to see a quarter of it but the food made up for missing the fireworks!
Most restaurants offer complimentary bread but how many cut their bread into heart shapes?! (they gave us both white and whole wheat)
I ordered the Charbroiled Alberta "Sterling Silver" Striploin ($38). Which was your average striploin, basically everyone at my table ordered this...
My sister is a vegetarian and unfortunately, there wasn't a variety of vegetarian options but she ordered the Roasted Portobello Mushroom with Mediterranean Vegetables.($28)
After dinner, I needed a place to sober up and Denny's was the only place opened so we headed down to Denny's and ordered the half order of Eggs Benedict. ($8.17)

Parlour Italian Kitchen & Bar

I decided to start my weekend off by grabbing lunch with a friend on Friday, at Parlour Italian Kitchen & Bar.

Conveniently, my friend works at one of the chain restaurants of Century Hospitality, so she knew most of the workers there so we got to chat with a few of them and they're all quite friendly! I even got to meet Tony Le! But besides that, we had a nice quiet afternoon and I finally got to satisfy my pasta craving!
My friend ordered the chicken which came with a creamy rice type of side (which I thought tasted really interesting...)
We decided to split a Panna Cotta for dessert!
And from a previous visit, I ordered the Knucklehead pizza which I HIGHLY recommend if you're craving pizza and potatoes!
