Anime or real life?

Have you ever watched an anime and noticed the characters eating ramen and thought to yourself, "wow I really want some instant noodles now..." Well, I'd like to believe that I've discovered the best ramen shop in Western Canada. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka located on Robson street of Downtown Vancouver is a franchise location of the famous ramen shop started in Japan. The noodles are not instant noodles and the portion is fairly decent. Besides ordering the miso ramen, I also ordered their Japanese Cream soda which is a green soda that comes with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Weird combination but one cannot visit Santouka without ordering one!
This may look like a tiny bowl but trust me... there is more than enough in there!

Fondueee

As the saying goes, "there's always room for dessert," but when there isn't, head to Capstones Tea & Fondue (on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver) for a light treat! Who doesn't love fondue? My friend and I ordered the individual chocolate fondue with add-ons which was a total around $20 per person (which is a pretty reasonable price when compared to The Melting Pot.) The servers were quite friendly and we received excellent service, I would definitely come again.
The banana muffin was so yummy!

Night Market

Hello foodies, long time no blog! I've been occupied with trying to settle in since my arrival in beautiful British Columbia, but I'm back! I've been busy scavenging the city for the best restaurants to share with you guys and I'd like to start with the Richmond Night Market. It is definitely a go to place when you are in B.C, not only are there tons of neat things to look at, it also consists of street foods you'd find in Asia. But it is very crowded there and the food area is very smokey! I have a horrible habit of eating before I go out to eat (I call it pre-eating, get it... like pre-drinking!) But luckily my stomach had room for my beloved takoyaki, lamb and chicken skewers, and cane ice-cream!

Cane Ice-cream: the ice-cream was my favorite part, the outside tasted like a regular cone.

Late lunch adventure

I woke up this morning with no intentions of stepping outside in this weather but I had a sudden craving for tacos from Tres Carnales so I convinced my girls to skip the gym to grab lunch with me! Of course, no hot summers day meal is complete without multiple drinks and desserts, so we went to Craft Beer Market afterwards to enjoy their rooftop patio and the beautiful weather!
Probably the worst food photo I've ever taken but I was too excited/hungry to get a good shot!
I forgot what this drink was called but it was under the cocktail section of the menu. I couldn't taste the alcohol in this, it's a perfect drink for someone who doesn't like the bitter taste of alcohol!
Cider: again, the taste of alcohol was almost nonexistent!
Guinness Float: my friend said it tasted like Vietnamese Iced Coffee towards the end.
Dessert in a Jar: I really enjoyed this! The picture doesn't do a good job of showing it's size but this was shared between three people and we couldn't finish it!
Rooftop patio view!

Patio weather!

With Edmonton's bipolar weather, we can never be too sure what day will be patio weather or when it will be a "lets grab coffee on Whyte Ave," weather. Luckily, today it was extremely warm so my friend and I decided to grab drinks from O2's Tap House & Grill on Whyte ave, might at I add they have an amazing rooftop patio! Besides grabbing several drinks (that I gave up taking pictures of...) I also got the chance to try two of their dishes. I would've ordered more but I ate before I went out, thinking we would only get drinks!
Baesar and a Caesar
South Western Steak Salad
The salad had too much sauce but the steak was very good!
Chili Cheese Fries: the fries were a bit salty but the portion is very large and it could probably be shared between 3+ people!
Candy Affair Bulldog: I highly recommend this if you're into sweet drinks!

Best calamari in the city

My appetite hasn't been so great lately, all I've been craving are deep fried, greasy foods and comfort foods. Which really narrows down the places I get to eat at, this evening I settled for Milestones near West Edmonton Mall. This location wasn't as busy as I thought it would be, on other occasions I've visited the South Common location where I've always had to wait to be seated.
The crispy calamari has easily became one of my favorite dishes, the best calamari I've tasted! Unlike other restaurants, Milestones' calamari are thick and the dipping sauce they come with go perfectly well!
Strawberry margarita
Thai Red Curry Chicken Bowl
Pesto Chicken Penne Asiago
Milestones' dessert shots: the white chocolate cheesecake was my favorite!

Capital Ex (K-Days)

I'm probably the only person who still addresses K-Days as Capital Ex... but no worries, you guys know what I'm talking about! I went to Capital Ex solely for the food, yup, I did spend $16 on an admission to get heart-attack-foods! Unfortunately, I arrived around 9:30PM and between playing games and trying to figure out where I was going, I did not get the chance to try everything. (In addition to the following pictures, I also tried deep fried oreos (absolutely LOVED them.) Elephant ears which were too greasy because the oil was probably old. AND the banana ice-cream, which was very good btw)
Hershey chocolate and vanilla swirl ice-cream
Red velvet mini donuts: tasted like playdough, regular mini donuts taste better!
